Teeth Whitening “Bleaching”

There is much discussion about the effectiveness of drug store bleaching kits vs. professionally administered bleaching. There is no question that one will get an improvement with each method however there are several considerations that one should have in making a proper choice.

  • Professionally assisted bleaching depends upon customized bleaching stints that are specifically made to fit only your mouth.Holding the bleaching gel against the teeth in a customized stint means your initial bleaching time is shorter than one size fits all bleaching strips.
  • Touch up bleaching with customized stints will be quicker and cheaper since one does not have to purchase an entire bleaching system each time you decide to rejuvenate your smile.
  • Naturally the assistance of our professional team is available to assist you with any questions or concerns you may have if you elect to take advantage of professionally assisted bleaching.

Veneers

Veneers are most commonly used to close spaces, correct for minor malpositioning of teeth,or to drastically alter the color of the teeth when bleaching is not an option to correct for misshapened teeth.

Veneers are thin, semi-translucent coverings that are bonded to your front teeth. Veneers are customized from porcelain material and the process of making veneers is very similar to that of crowns with one major difference. Since there is less tooth structure removed during the process of making veneers the initial visit is often quicker and therefore easier on the patient. During the time the lab is making your permanent veneers, temporary veneers are bonded to your teeth to enhance your smile. The usual time frame for construction of veneers in the lab is 2-3 weeks; however, if you desire a faster result please let us know and we will be happy to expedite your case.

Veneers are a great aesthetic solution to your smile that may even help you avoid orthodontic treatment. Subtle changes to your smile can be achieved with veneers, and in most cases, veneer application is completed in only two office visits.

Please contact our office if you have any further questions about veneers.

 Cosmetic Bonding

Bonding is commonly used where white fillings are needed in the front of the mouth or in instances where the patient desires the most esthetic fillings even in the back of the mouth. Composite bonding is also used to improve minor cosmetic defects in situations where porcelain veneers or crowns are not indicated. Since bonding tends to discolor more easily than crowns or porcelain veneers and is not as hard or durable as porcelain, bonding is not recommended for extensive reconstructive cosmetic work except to be used as a temporary solution.
